An inspiring story coming in from a South Wales restaurant this week. With support of the charity Adref, JOL’s, a restaurant based in Merthyr Tydfil, is offering work placements to young homeless people from across the region.
The popular eatery source all their ingredients locally and have proven themselves as a very popular venue in the area. They are now offering those affected with homelessness the chance to learn both serving and cooking skills.
What a fantastic way to both engage with and help your local community. The scheme hopes to help youngsters facing difficult situations the chance to experience working life, with the aim of inspiring them to build a career in hospitality.
Speaking to the BBC, head chef and owner Jamie O’Leary said: “We are excited about working with people who are keen to learn and, hopefully, carve out a career in the industry.”
