Pub chain Wetherspoons are now offering customers a range of takeaway teas and coffees, starting at just 99p. The move is said to be an attempt by the well-known company to ‘modernise the business’.
All 950 Spoons’ across the UK will be adopting the new service for its customers, who, according to chief exec John Hutson, currently buy a million cups a week. Hutson believes their large customer base will welcome the opportunity to enjoy a takeaway brew for less than a quid.
He said: “Our coffee is extremely popular with customers. We sell a million cups a week at present across the UK, so I’m confident they will welcome the chance of a takeaway coffee too”.
The news has been welcomed by regular Anthony Thomas from Chester. “I always stop for a coffee in town on lunch breaks. Sometimes it’s easy to get too comfortable and end up late back to the office! I’m looking forward to grabbing a coffee on the move instead”.
